We were a little sceptical after reading some of the negative reviews but we gave it a go nonetheless. We arrived at 8:15 and were told that the kitchen usually closes at 8 but they would keep it open for us. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken. I usually stick to standard pub grub as I think it's the safest bet so I ordered the schnitzel and my wife got the fish and chips. Others in our group ordered the barramundi And vegge pasta and they loved them. Staff were all lovely and we had a great meal.
First impression every time at the Paynesville pub is the stench of urinal cakes when you walk in. Staff were very cranky didn't even tell us that salads were self serve. The Parma was so so but the chips were amazing. Fairly expensive too at $28 for a Parma.
Great food and Very friendly staff
I'm giving 2 stars because the service was great but everything else was well below par. The meal took over an hour to come out. There was 7 of us and most of the meals were dry and overcooked. The meat in one of the meals was so tough it was difficult to cut through. For the price you pay, I expect better quality of food that comes in a reasonable time.
Went there again tonight. Pub dining room half empty, no one greeted us as we walked into dining room & after a few minute found a table that was not reserved, the bloke front of house enventually arrived, no good day or welcome.The conversation then was do you have a booking? No. We were chastised for sitting down at an unreserved table, (the staff who should have greeted us were in another room). For future reference you must REPORT to counter in another room. No where were there any instructions as to how this operated. The front of house bloke deliberately served other customers who arrived later than us. Fortunately The youngest girl on the floor came to check whether we been served etc. she was attentive to our needs throughout the night. This is 3rd time the front of house bloke has behaved in this manner to us.Why do we go there.The business is part owned by a grand daughter of a long time family friend!!!But we are done! Wont be back!
