Not sure anyone actually knows what is going on here at this medical centre. Booked in to get my daughter a flu shot. Had read they were free for under 5 but told by admin and doctor that they werent. Saw the doctor and received a prescription. Went to the pharmacy waited 30 minutes for them to tell me they dont have any. (They dont know what is going on either). When seeing the doctor she never mentioned anything about the double shot (28 days apart) for first time babies. Was in the pharmacist in Bairnsdale a couple of days later so put in my prescription. He told me I dont need a prescription and that all I need to do is make an appointment with the doctor and that vaccines were free for babies under 5. I then rang the Service Street Medical in Bairnsdale and was booked in 2 days later. Gave her the shot right there in the doctors office. He told me I need to come back in 28 days and made me an appointment. And it was free as are all children under the age of 5. I wasted close to 2 hours for no reason at all at Paynesville because no one knew what was happening. You would think with such a deadly flu season last year and the hype around getting flu shots that doctors especially and staff would at least be aware of the Victorian immunisation schedule and vaccine eligibility. Unfortunatley that was our first trip being new to town to this doctors and now have absolutely no faith to go back. We will continue on at Service Street even though the trip into town is a bit of a pain.
